Twinam sets new CI record

0486734_cropped.jpgJERSEY Spartan Sophie Twinam has knocked a second off her personal best to set a new Channel Islands 400m hurdles record.

The 18-year-old’s run was the performance of the day for the Sportingbet CI Athletics Club, who managed a top four finish in Coventry at the weekend in Division 4 of the UK Women’s Athletics League.

Twinam ran 62.4 seconds to take second place, having fought a thrilling battle with the eventual winner.

Athletics development officer Andrew Winnie said: ‘Sophie was taken down at the end by a very good senior hurdler, but that says a lot really. She’s been working very hard recently and she has had her sights set on continuing to get better and better at the hurdles.
