Tough test for Black

00485413_cropped.jpgMULTI-Island Games medallist Ian Black will be competing against potential Olympic swimmers at the Senior National Championships in Liverpool this weekend.

Black (18) will be aiming for personal bests in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and the 200m and 400m individual medley, but despite making two finals in last year’s National Age Group Championships he said he would be surprised if he was able to repeat that feat this year.

He said: ‘This year is a big step up and I’m going to be swimming against the best in the country – the Olympic swimmers are going to be there, so I don’t think I’ve got a great chance of making the finals. My main target is to get a few PBs.

‘I might have had a chance of getting a good result in my age group, but probably not in the overall competition. These are the best swimmers in England so the standard is extremely high.’
