Floral success starts growing on Grouville

00573069_cropped.jpgGROUVILLE has won Jersey’s Parish in Bloom Competition.

Over three days this week UK gardening experts visited six parishes judging floral design, landscaping and local environment quality. Grouville received the Best Parish gold award, beating St Helier, St Saviour, St Brelade, St Clement and St Martin.

The judging panel – National Britain in Bloom Judge John Woodward and London in Bloom Judge Ron Froud – said: ‘Grouville is a living example of success breeding success. The spreading out of effort right through the parish is commendable and is improving the appearance of the parish from end to end. Good for the residents and visitors alike.’

The judges decided that St Brelade as the Best Coastal Parish and said that they were impressed by the landscaping, floral arrangements and commercial premises along the coast. St Brelade will now represent Jersey in the national finals of Britain in Bloom in 2009. Grouville is going one step further in the international competition.
