Farmers’ spokesman opposes rural rezoning

0140856_2_cropped.jpgTHE head of Jersey’s Farmers’ Union has criticised plans to rezone land to provide homes for the elderly and first-time buyers.

John Le Maistre says that the proposition, due to be debated in the States this week, is at odds with a speech made by the Chief Minister about ‘Keeping Jersey Special’.

In a letter to theJEP, he also claims that Imagine Jersey was a put-up job, designed to give ministers the answers they wanted onthe need for more immigration.

The proposal focuses on freeing 26 acres of land on eight sites for 337 life-long homes for the over-55s and first-time buyers.

dont do it, we all worked bloody hard to own a home without help from anyone, why hand it out on a plate? it sends out the wrong message that you can fritter away your wages and still be given a house, then sell it on at a vast profit! utter disgrace , boat in the morning springs to mind.
