Jersey win back tennis inter-insular trophy

00348729_cropped.jpgJERSEY won back the tennis Inter-Insular Trophy following a 15-9 victory against their Guernsey counterparts in Jersey on Sunday.

The Jersey team were clutching the trophy and celebrating after achieving good results in the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles matches at Les Ormes in St Brelade and at the Caesarean Club in St Saviour.

Jersey team captain Matt Harris, who played and selected the team with Andrew Evans and Ian Morgan, said: ‘It’s great to win again and it was a team effort; the selectors have nothing but praise for all the players as everyone gave 100 per cent.’

From the start it looked like it was going to be tight, with the four men’s and four women’s doubles pairings all looking even. After the first round of men’s matches it was 2-2 after wins by Andy Evans and Harris and James Connelly and Lee Ingram.
