Elaine displays a Magic Touch

0571447_cropped.jpgELAINE PAISNEL has made petanque history as the first woman to win the Magic Touch Island Singles championship.

She took the title over 23 players who entered the competition held at Samares Manor. The players were divided into three groups, with the top players progressing through to the semi-finals.

The final was a point for point affair. Mick Cotillard took a slight lead only for Elaine to catch up to 3-3. Elaine then moved to 5-3 and again Mick recouped the deficit.

It remained neck and neck until Elaine led 11-9 and in a tight last end she gained the two points she needed to secure victory.
