Celebrity show on ice for a day but all now set

00574577_cropped.jpgCELEBRITY ice-skaters are in a race against time to perfect their moves for Kyran Bracken’s Ice Party, which premieres in the Island tonight.

Dress rehearsals for the show were delayed by a day because freezing the rink took longer than expected, meaning that skaters only stepped onto the ice for the first time yesterday.

Mr Bracken, who calls Jersey his home, said yesterday morning that the team were hoping to be back on track by late last night. He said that the delay arose because the rink, which Mr Bracken has bought with his own money, is being used for the first time.

‘The ice took longer to set than we thought,’ he said. ‘It can take up to two and a half to three days to freeze properly. The problem has been the different temperatures and the fact that it is a new machine and a new rink. It hasn’t proved to be an enormous problem but it is enough to put the pressure on.’ The show is being held at Fort Regent this weekend and next.
