Bouley Bay hill climb

0574649_cropped.jpgJERSEYMAN Gary Hotton continued his fine form to record the only record of the day at the Rabey’s Commercial Vehicles National hill climb at Bouley Bay on Thursday.

Just a few weeks after becoming the fastest man on two wheels at the quarter-mile sprint along the Five Mile Road, Hotton added the unlimited motorbike class record to his collection after completing the course in 46.46 seconds on his final run of the day.

The previous best was 48.83, achieved by Guernsey’s Peter Davies back in 1999.The meeting incorporated rounds 17 and 18 of the Nicholson McLaren MSA British Hill Climb Championship and after some excellent racing both rounds were won by current championship leader Scott Moran.

Lee Le Feuvre won the class to take the TAF Goodyear Trophy for fastest motorcycle over 350 cc in 44.76 seconds. However, Bruce Dingle was a mere one-hundredth of a second behind on his Aprilia. Club president Martin Keith placed third in 45.54.

Young Simon Bonny took the honours from the experienced Gary Ferey in the 125 cc kart classes where their respective best times in Anderson karts were 45.48 and 45.56.

Once again, Nigel Davis amazed everyone with the rapid acceleration of his 250 cc Anderson Rotax and with a time of 41.40 he certainly mixed it with a lot more powerful but heavier single-seater racing cars.
