Hat-trick for Higgins

00472319_cropped.jpgGOLF starlet Olivia Jordan-Higgins has recorded her third successive victory in the Corbin Trophy Strokeplay Championship at the Royal Jersey Golf Club.

In blustery conditions on Tuesday, 20-year-old Olivia carded an opening round of 79, leaving her in a tie for the lead with the experienced Pam Parkman, four shots clear of the chasing pack.

However, in Wednesday’s second round, Olivia took advantage of the better conditions to post an improved score of 75 giving her an unassailable lead as Pam was unable to continue the previous day’s form and had to settle for second place. An aggregate score of 154 gave Olivia the title by nine shots.

This is the fourth time that Olivia has lifted the trophy in the last five years. The only year she was not victorious was 2005, a year in which she posted the winning score, but was later disqualified for inadvertently taking an illegal drop.
