Miss Battle: Now it’s the turn of the young ones

00574223_cropped.jpgTWENTY-ONE girls will go head to head tomorrow to battle it out for the title of Miss Junior Battle 2008.

The competition takes place at Howard Davis Park, starting at 2.30 pm, and the winner will have the chance to join Miss Battle, Holly Fraser, as well as Mr Battle, Christopher Biggins, on their float on both Battle day and at the following day’s Moonlight Parade.

Initially there were more than 65 girls — aged between eight and 12 — who entered the competition, and 21 of these were selected for the final.

At tomorrow’s competition, the outgoing Miss Junior Battle, Rachel Hermitage, will say a few words, and all of the finalists will be asked a range of questions such as why they want to be Miss Junior and what they like about the Battle. A panel of three judges will then select seven finalists who will be asked further questions before a winner is selected.
