Taylor ton lifts CI vets

0480020_cropped.jpgJERSEY’S John Taylor scored an undefeated 112 helping the Channel Islands to an eight-wicket victory away to Dorset yesterday in the ECB 50+ Championship.

Chasing the formidable target of 265 for victory in 45 overs at Dean Park in Bournemouth, the CI reached their target off the last ball of the 39th over.

Paul Robson and Andy Gibbs again got the CI off to a good start with 68 runs for the first wicket before Robson departed for 40. Gibbs continued to play well and following up Tuesday’s unbeaten 79 against the Isle of Wight he carried his bat again for 74 runs while featuring in an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 176 with Taylor.

The CI now have to wait until the remainder of the Group 3 matches are played before they find out if they will play in the knock-out stages of the competition.
