Experience the reward for Island golfers in UK

00472319_cropped.jpgROYAL Jersey golfers Olivia Jordan-Higgins and Sam Crenan finished joint 16th and 37th respectively in National competitions yesterday.

Both will have gained excellent experience from playing against quality opposition and Crenan still has another year to possibly compete in the Carris Trophy English Boys’ under-18 championship again next year.

Jordan-Higgins (20) (pictured) played in the English Women’s Close Amateur Strokeplay Championship, at The Berkshire Golf Club, and after qualifying in 13th place she competed the tournament yesterday with two three-over-par rounds of 75.

Crenan, playing at Wallasey in Liverpool, returned two 80s yesterday to finish on 307 - 19 strokes behind the winner who finished the four rounds on a level par score of 288. Conditions were extremely windy yesterday and as a result only three players broke par all day.
