Timms shines as Jersey clubs do well

2008gsyfestivalb_2_cropped.jpgEVERTON Football Club won Guernsey’s Mini Soccer Festival on Sunday – but Jersey clubs returned with the other two trophies.

St Paul’s were Jersey’s sole representative in the competition main, while St Peter retained the Plate competition while Grouville youngster Ben Timms was named player of the tournament by Everton’s coaches.

Everton won the final on a penalty shoot-out against Glasgow Rangers, the two clubs who finished above Peter Robinson’s St Paul’s in their ten-team group.

St Paul’s coach Neil Vallois, who was also assisted by Chris Le Guyader, said: ‘The St Paul’s lads should be extremely proud of themselves, they gelled together well as a group and they played some good football throughout.
