CI tennis team win promotion

00356714_cropped_cropped.jpgTHE Channel Islands county men’s tennis team has been promoted for the first time.

Since becoming a county in 1982, the team has been stuck in Group 7, the bottom group in the County structure.

The team is made up of some of the youngest players in the league, with James Connelly and Charlie Cohen (pictured) of Jersey and Dom McClusky, Nick Thiebeault and Patrick Ogier from Guernsey, along with CI Performance coach Andrew Evans and Les Ormes coach Jonathan Howell.

Despite only claiming victory in three of the five matches played over the week of competition, they all came in the most important ties, seeing them promoted for the first time in their 26-year county existence.
