A 12-YEAR-OLD girl who was flung from a ride at the Battle of Flowers funfair on Friday afternoon was discharged from hospital yesterday.
The accident has left her with a fractured pelvic bone and she will be on crutches for at least a week. She and her friend were screaming as they were thrown out of a carriage on the Mega Bounce as it was moving.
After her friend fell out first, she managed to hold on for a few moments before hitting her head on a metal light and falling unconscious on the grass. It is understood that the safety bar that should have kept the girls inside the carriage, flipped up on the first ‘bounce’ as the ride was moving.
The girl’s mother, who was at work when the accident happened, said: ‘It was horrific. The hospital phoned me at work and I went straight there. It’s your worst nightmare – you never think something like that it going to happen to your child. When she went into hospital she was strapped onto a board and screaming with the pain.’
