Rock in the Park

0578956_cropped.jpgISLANDERS braved the elements yesterday to show their support for seven local bands.

Despite torrential rain during most of the afternoon, the eight-hour music fest still went ahead and was enjoyed by music lovers of all ages. The event, which is one of the Island’s biggest free annual music festivals, was held in Howard Davis Park between noon and 8 pm.

Kicking off the afternoon of music was Battle of the Bands winners Salem’s Lot. Their set was then followed by performances from Brave Yesterday, White Noise, Schillaci, Eclipse, Black Stats and Banquet.

Each band played a 45-minute set and the event also included the chance for musicians under 12 to take part in an air guitar competition. The festival was organised by the Rock in the Park committee and was sponsored by Jersey Post. While it was free to attend, Islanders were asked to make a donation to the Jersey Kidney Patients Association Dialysis 08 Appeal.
