Mills masters Sion

creditmarcinpajak_cropped.jpgISLAND Games rider Kieron Mills continued his good form to win the final Lawrence de Gruchy mountain bike summer series race last Sunday.

On land at Vautier’s at Sion, Mills mastered the conditions to lead from start to finish. The inclement weather resulted in a technical track being extremely slippery.

In addition, the uphill sections were energy sapping, there was a rocky stream and greasy high speed down-hills giving riders a full spectrum of challenges to test skill and stamina.

The start was a launch across a grass field with a hairpin turn before charging back and down a double track and into the woodland proper. Mills, in the elite class, showed his class by speeding away with Rhys Hidrio in hot pursuit.

The pair pulled away before Mills, getting regular drinks from his support team and with a good tyre selection for the conditions, never let up the pace to record another victory ahead of Hidrio and Krzysztof Jeromkin respectively.
