Small nations football tournament

0580108_cropped.jpgTHE Jersey Football Association is expected to announce that a small nations senior tournament will be played in Jersey in November.

JFA president Ricky Weir yesterday confirmed that a tournament was close to being finalised but he would not reveal who would be coming to the Island or when they would play.

It is thought that the tournament will be played in early November and the small nations thought likely to be involved are Madeira and old Island Games rivals Gibraltar.

Weir said: ‘We are close to finalising a tournament and it will be announced when everything has been confirmed. I don’t think it is right to announce who is coming and when in case it does not take place for any reason.
