Club record equalled

0486757_cropped.jpgISLAND golf star Olivia Jordan-Higgins has matched an 11-year-old course record and blasted her handicap after an ‘amazing’ round at La Moye.

The Royal Jersey player, who was aiming to play off scratch by the end of the summer, scored a stunning 71 gross to bag the Ashburton-sponsored Ladies’ Open Day title and lower her handicap to -1.

La Moye Golf Club lady captain Shelia Smith said the 20-year-old played ‘the most beautiful golf’ - having birdies on holes 2, 5, 6, 9, 12 and 16 and only dropping shots to par the last two holes.

That performance was good enough to take her level with Lynne Cummins, whose record was set in 1997. Smith said: ‘Olivia’s score was quite amazing for a scratch player, considering the standard scratch gross is 76. The most important thing about this score, as well as equalling the course record, is that it was 3 under par. It really is quite something.’
