Optimists take top Battle award

0581971_cropped.jpgThe Optimists Club have scooped the top prize in this year’s Battle of Flowers with their entry, Circus.

Their circus-themed entry featuring a giant elephant and clowns riding in a car was awarded the Prix d’Honneur.

Second place, the Prix d’Excellence, went to the entry from St Saviour, Curtain Call, giving them their first major prize for a number of years.

The Grand Prix des Paroisses, was won by Trinity, with their float My Fair Lady; and the Prix d’Honneur de Paper, by Peter Heath and Friends for their exhibit, Fun with the Mr Men.

    Have been keeping in touch with events in Jersey for the past 39 years, but was particularly impressed today, with the excellent shots taken of the floats entered in
    the Battle of Flowers. Congratulatios to all those who contributed to this occasion.

    I was just flabbergasted at the antics of both the Police car and the racing car at the evening procession. They just beggared belief in this age of supposed ‘health and safety’.Incredible!!!
