JERSEY athlete Nick Saunders will be one of the favourites in a field of 120 local and visiting competitors taking part in this Sunday’s Ogier Triathlon event.
The 1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run is the biggest event of the Jersey triathlon calendar and will also encompass the annual interinsular with Guernsey.
Jersey Tri Club secretary James Shepherd said: ‘Triathlon is the fastest-growing sport in the world at the moment, and the Ogier triathlon is a major event for us.
‘We’re really pleased that we have so many competitors this year, including entrants from UK and abroad, and a number of Island Games athletes from Jersey and Guernsey, so it should be a really good one for spectators.’ The event starts at 7 am on Sunday morning from Bel Royal, with a sea swim followed by a bike course around the west of the Island and a run along the Esplanade.
