Plans in for town quarry homes project

00582812_cropped.jpgPLANS for a huge housing development on the Westmount Quarry site have been submitted to the Planning department.

The Dandara development, at the former parish depot, would include 206 sheltered and  starter one- and two-bedroom flats, a 60-bed nursing home, a 60-place pre-school nursery, a ground-floor commercial unit, parking for 281 vehicles and a landscaped community area.

Developers would also regrade and stabilise the quarry face.

The accommodation is spread across four buildings, which range from nine storeys to 13 storeys high.

If the application is passed, the parish of St Helier would receive a cash payment of at least £3.5 million for a 150-year lease on the site.

This is a site of historical interest, this is where the prisoners who died and were executed are buried, is nothing sacred !!!

    Why Dandara?
    Why not someone else?

Another ugly blight on Jersey’s landscape no doubt, with rooms the size of rabbit hutches that require made to measure furniture.

Are these people for real? A 60-bed nursing home alongside a 60-place pre-school for under 4s as well as a commercial unit and 206 1 and 2 bed flats! All squashed together living on top of one another, Whatever next? Where are these peoples brains; obviously not in their heads! How many of these flats would end up being rented / bought by non-locals again? Are we short changing our old folks yet again and as for the children where and how exactly do they play and make NOISE next to an old folks home? Oh please, this is stupid but so typical money money money is all that is being thought about here as usual.

Exactly , all we ever hear about is Dandara. We all know their track record of this type of thing, tiny overcrowded ‘units’. To place old people home next to a commercial unit and nursery is frankly absurd.

hahaha one minute we are being told there are too many 1 bedroom flats, the next minute, Dandara come along and offer to build more. And we all know what size these bedrooms will be…

Why Dandara? There is only Dandara, and only one industry, and only one system of government. This is Jersey, Island of Choice.
