Storms batter Jersey again

00583000_cropped.jpgAT LEAST two boats sank and another two were ripped from their moorings last night as Jersey was battered by strong winds and torrential rain.

Two small private boats in Le Hocq sank after being pounded by high seas, and vessels in La Rocque and St Aubin broke free from their moorings.

Reports of further damaged vessels were still coming in this morning, and more were expected this afternoon as boat owners return to the mooring posts.

Last night’s wind and rain came just a week after the Island suffered one of the worst storms of the summer. That storm sank a yacht in St Catherine and caused at least two others to break free from their moorings.
