Ladies lead all the way to Gorey

00582572_2_cropped.jpgTRACY Mourant and Karen Rankine fought off strong men’s opposition to take the top honours in Sunday’s St Aubin to Gorey rowing race.

The ladies’ sliding pair led the field from start to finish, capitalising well on their early position in the staggered start of the handicap event.

They were the first to tackle the lumpy seas around Elizabeth Castle breakwater and ploughed on through Green Island and La Rocque. As they headed into the final stretch along Grouville Bay the duo were chased by two fours crews, who caught up quickly but failed to stop the ladies crossing the line in first place.
