Hague sets up victory

0625218_cropped.jpgMATT HAGUE ominously batted himself into some sort of form as he guided his team to victory yesterday in the European Division II match against Gibraltar.

The Jersey captain’s kookaburra bat was making a delightful sound as he regularly found the middle of it late on in his unbeaten 56 as the Caesareans successfully chased 153 with the best part of 15 overs to spare.

Gibraltar’s innings had been slow going to reach 153 for 8 from their 50 overs, with manager Chris Minty happy that his side applied good pressure on the opposition.

Peter Gough then gave the Jersey reply an ideal start with a quickfire 36, and there were also useful contributions from Ian Crocker and Jonny Gough. But Hague finished as top scorer in what Minty described as ‘a job well done’.
