AS expected, both Jersey and hosts Guernsey warmed up for their big, decisive clash today by registering comprehensive ICC European Cricket League Division II wins yesterday.
Both had, of course, already made sure today’s big encounter would be the match to decide who gains promotion to Division I from this round-robin of six teams; but neither slipped up and both head to the KGV with 100 per cent records – Jersey beating Germany, as they did last year, by nine wickets at Port Soif, while Guernsey registered another comfortable eight-wicket victory over bottom team Croatia.
Germany had set Jersey reasonable target of 174 from 50 overs, losing seven wickets, but Peter Kirsten’s side lost just one wicket in reaching the target, while Guernsey needed just 25 and a bit overs to pass Croatia’s target of 116 all out.
