A CUSTOMER has complained to the Island’s competition regulator after Marks and Spencer withdrew milk from sale that was not produced in Jersey.
Lynne Howgate (57) is angry that her freedom of choice has been taken away because she can no longer buy imported milk.
She was told by the manageress of Marks and Spencer in St Peter this week that they no longer sell Omega 3 milk.
Mrs Howgate, a fund administrator from St Lawrence, said that she preferred the Omega 3 milk, as she could buy it in four-litre containers and she thought it lasted longer than Jersey milk.

Wow. What massive news.
This is big because we all end up crying over spilt milk………
Nevertheless, this is news. Another example of Island people being told what they should buy and being exploited by a notoriously greedy retailer. Why can’t we buy imported milk in bigger containers and at a cheaper price? Where else in EUROPE would you be told to pay £1.02 for one litre of milk?
The milk is available at Safeway
Marks & Spencer (Jersey) and Safeway are part of Sandpiper CI. Its all the same company!
Maybe it has something to do with import rules - if i’m not mistaken you cannot usually import milk into the island in order to protect our milk herds
what a joke ! they have just lifted the ban that has protected our Jersey Cows so why can’t we have the milk what difference is it going to make ? at the end of the day the Pure Breed Jersey Cow will be no longer within a few years !
Roll on the elections !
