00358930_2_cropped.jpg00358930_2_cropped.jpgJERSEY have selected 14 players for their World Cricket League Division IV campaign in Tanzania next month.

It is a relatively young squad with eight players under the age of 26 – three of them teenagers. Matt Hanley (18) has been drafted in as a second wicket-keeper, replacing the injured Ed Farley, while left-arm off-spinner Ben Stevens (16) and fast bowler Anthony Kay (18) have also been included.

The Jersey Cricket Board squad, who play between 4 and 14 October, is: Mathew Hague (captain), Tony Carlyon, Steve Carlyon, Jonny Gough, Peter Gough, Robert Minty, Tom Minty, Andy Dewhurst, Sam Dewhurst, Meeku Patidar, Ryan Driver and Kay, Stevens, Matthew Hanley. Opening bowler Chris Jones was unavailable for selection due to a forthcoming shoulder operation.

JCB manager Chris Minty said: ‘Coach Peter Kirsten has been a lot more involved in the selection this time having seen the players in the World Cricket League Division V tournament, the inter-insular and the European Division II tournaments this year.
