JERSEY anthem composer Gerard Le Feuvre will perform concerts for more than 1,000 schoolchildren at two free screenings of Peter and the Wolf next week.
He will be conducting the London-based Kings Chamber Orchestra next Friday as they provide live accompaniment to the Oscar-winning film as part of the Island’s first international film festival. The general public will get their chance to see the spectacle in the evening.
The Branchage Jersey International Film Festival, which runs from Thursday 25 until Sunday 28 September, will screen almost 40 films and 100 short films at nine different Island locations. On Friday evening, Peter and the Wolf will be screened in the Jersey Opera House at 8 pm and Mr Le Feuvre said it will be like going back in time.
‘People can expect an experience they would not often get at the Opera House,’ he said. ‘Going to the cinema in the 1920s was a tremendous and glamorous experience – and that is what they will get. I don’t think there has been live orchestra with a film since the 1930s.’
