RUNNER Ana Goncalves is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for charity by completing two marathons in memory of her mother.
Ana will take part in the Berlin Marathon this Sunday before running in the Jersey Marathon just seven days later.
The mother-of-two who has completed two New York Marathons and four London Marathons as well as one in Chicago and one in Madeira, will donate all the money she raises to Headway Jersey.
Ana, who will run with friend Cathy Piper in the Berlin Marathon, began to raise money for the charity after her sister suffered a head injury.
She said: ‘It has not been easy fitting training around my working hours and family life, but I have a family who have been very supportive and I have been able to fit in about six training sessions a week. I am running the marathons in memory of my mother, who died two months ago. I am determined to do them both for her.’
Ana, a cashier at Barclays Bank, has already raised £500 for Headway – a figure which will be matched by her company. She hopes that they will raise more than £2,000 in total.
If you wish to make a donation, phone Ana on 07797 726024 or pass the money in to her at Barclays Bank.
