THE only declared candidate for Chief Minister has promised a ministerial reshuffle if he gets the top job.
Senator Terry Le Sueur (pictured) says that his first task would be drafting a more inclusive and shorter version of the Strategic Plan with the help of all States Members, not just the ministers. By shuffling round ministerial positions, he says, the Island would get better and more rounded people doing the jobs.
The Treasury Minister (66) is the only declared candidate to replace Senator Frank Walker in the top job when he retires from politics this December. St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft considered and then rejected running, and Health Minister Ben Shenton says that he is waiting to see how the elections turn out before making a final decision.
There will be at least two new ministers after December because Senator Walker and Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard are both leaving the States.

Please someone else stand for Chief minister! We cannot let him take the role as he would just mess it up.
I think it is a bit early for Terry le Sueur to start thinking of his future Council of Ministers.
The Senatorial race is not over and the Deputy nominations have not even gone in yet.
Lets face facts, Terry will be first minister and Freddie (The Untouchable) Cohen will get to keep his job if thats what he wants. Remember the I will resign if i don’t get my way with the waterfront, thats the mentality of the man (or should i say boy) can you imagine going in to work and saying if you don’t let me do what i want i am off! Its about time this island woke up and actually voted in some people who are interested in looking after Jersey as oppossed to shouting about themselves!
This story is a tad presumptuous!!! For all of the hype about elections and making a change, it seems that yet again the future’s being planned without including the population. They should all be up for re-election.

Senator Le Suer may have his list of ministers in mind, but if the sensible and moral step of letting the people choose is taken, then this is very premature indeed.
If we can have a referendum on moving to CET, then we can certainly be trusted to vote for our own chief minister.
How can he run through a list of Senatorial candidates suggesting which ones would sit in his Cabinet of Ministers when none of them have been elected yet?
We, the voters, get first say!
If he becomes First Minister then he will have to work with the members that we return.

oh please lets give the guy that gave us more tax to pay on every thing the TOP job to see if he can tax us even more and the rich even less that sounds just wonderful NOT
Oh dear oh dear. When will the electorate understand these ‘Elections’ are a sham. They are simply a show of ‘Democracy’ before the Political Leviathan that is Jersey and the States lurches forward lining the pockets of the few at the expense of the many!!!

Terry Le Sueur has the experience to put the cabinet together. If, and I say a big if, any of these new people get in, they will have to learn to behave.

Ian Le Marquand has it right. None of the current States Members have the necessary credentials. Regrettably, neither did the unsuccesful candidates. Sadly, maybe we don’t pay our States Members enough to get the right quality of candidates
