Convent take early advantage over St Clement

00595049_cropped.jpgIT was everything a top-of-the-table clash should be – tight, tense, fast and furious – but the first big encounter between the Deustche Bank Winter Netball League’s traditional title challengers eventually went Convent A’s way.

Both sides played a polished, highly-skilled game, and for the most part it was goal-for-goal as Convent A and big rivals St Clement A jostled for the lead at the FB Fields, but it was Convent who emerged the victors of a 53-48 score-line.

Really, it could have gone either way – and it was Saints who had the edge in the opening quarters, breaking Convent’s centre in the final few minutes of the first to open up a 13-10 lead.

Both sides returned renewed and refreshed in the second, though it was Convent’s turn this time to show off their well-oiled passing, excellent attacking play and accurate shooting, and they quickly brought the score level.
