Business from the Jersey Evening Post

The Island wines and dines the travel writers

ew__00532417_cropped.jpgJERSEY Tourism and ten Island hotels are spending £30,000 on a sponsorship package aimed to market Jersey as a luxury destination.

At an event in London for travel writers next month, journalists from all over the world will dine on Genuine Jersey produce, sip champagne and indulge on Jersey oysters before watching a three-minute DVD on the Island. This slice of luxury is costing Jersey Tourism £20,000, with the remaining £10,000 split between the hotels, which include Longueville Manor, the L’Horizon and new boutique hotel Cardington House.

Gordon Ramsay’s Maze Restaurant head chef Jason Atherton created the menu for the dinner, which features a Genuine Jersey brown crab and jewel tomato starter and Jersey Dairy ice-cream dessert.
The British Guild of Travel Writers chairman, John Carter, will introduce the DVD, which was produced by Spike Productions. The event, to be held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, marks the opening of the biggest travel exhibition in the world at the Excel exhibition centre.
