MORE than 12,000 Islanders packed out the JEP Home and Lifestyle Show over the last four days.
The event, held every two years at Fort Regent, featured over 100 exhibits from a variety of companies selling a range of products ranging from animal massage equipment to vitamin drink blenders and pictures with Posh and Becks lookalikes.
Show director Julie Settle said that despite initial fears that the show would not go ahead because the holding company had gone into liquidation, the event was a great success. ‘There was a great buzz, especially on Saturday and Sunday,’ she said. ‘The local businesses had fantastic feedback from the public, who said that there was a great mix of products on offer, and many businesses received a lot of leads.’
Despite the global credit crunch, which Mrs Settle said contributed to buyers being more ‘considerate’, some exhibitors sold out of their products, with many selling thousands of pounds worth of stock. ‘There were not so many impulse buys,’ she said, ‘but some products, such as home insulation, sold well because they are money-saving purchases for the future.’
