Jersey Eisteddfod music section

THE music section of the Jersey Eisteddfod, which is celebrating its centenary year, began at the Opera House last week.

Adjudicator John Foster, whose praise and constructive criticism are given with good humour and understanding, has a wealth of experience for the job. Having studied piano with Kendall Taylor at the Royal Northern College of Music, he went on to perform extensively, giving solo recitals, playing with instrumental and singing groups and as an accompanist in masterclasses. He is also an examiner, trainer and moderator for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

The music section of the Eisteddfod is continuing this week and includes a special class tomorrow evening, Wednesday 12 November, at which past contestants in the vocal or instrumental sections can perform in a non-competitive arena. The event entitled ‘One More Time’ will not be judged and starts at 7.30 pm.

• Results of the competition for Monday 4 November and Tuesday 5 November are published in today’s Jersey Evening Post. Pictures of some of the competitors are in this gallery.
