Call for meeting on suspension of carer

00604215_cropped.jpgTHE suspension of Karen Huchet could be questioned in front of thousands of members of the Family Nursing and Home Care charity if moves to force an emergency general meeting are successful.

Chief executive Ms Huchet was suspended in August after an inquiry was launched into the way in which she treated members of her staff. And a group of her supporters who are members of the Island’s biggest charity are now working together to force the body to hold an emergency general meeting.

Former employee Jo Bowers, pictured, said that she and 26 other members were extremely concerned about the implications of Ms Huchet’s suspension, whom she described as a long-standing and dedicated chief executive. Mrs Bowers said: ‘The situation cannot be good for staff. It is causing concern regarding human resources and employment issues and it is undoubtedly affecting morale.’ Mrs Bowers wrote to charity chairman Richard Pirouet to request the meeting. However, she said that he offered her a private meeting and that she declined.
