QUESTIONS remain as to whether the Jersey Football Association will be sending men’s and women’s teams to the Aland Island Games next summer.
Deadlines for the 2009 spectacular are fast approaching and although the JFA want to take both teams it will be down to the players if they compete or not. JFA president Ricky Weir said: ‘It’s a difficult question to answer at present because not all of the players have been spoken to yet as to their intentions.
‘We had a management meeting last week and the managers are currently contacting the players to find out exactly what position we are in.
‘Men’s manager Dave Kennedy says the initial reaction has been fairly positive but in truth it’s too early to say, although we will have to make a decision very soon. We have set out a commitment required for everyone and it is going to cost in the region of £1,000 per person.’
