JERSEY HC Vets lost in the final of the English Hockey Association’s Veteran Plate on Sunday after a last minute goal from Kingston-Upon-Hull.
The goal gave Kingston the match, and the Plate, 3-2, and robbed Jersey of any chance to rescue the title in extra time.
The Island side were left obviously deflated at the result, but they can take solace from being the first Jersey team ever to have reached a national hockey final.
‘It was an achievement to get to a national final and be the first Jersey side to do that, but we were a little deflated not to bring home the trophy,’ said captain Paul Masterton.
