Beeches move two points clear

CHAMPIONS Beeches moved two points clear at the top of Division I in the NatWest Evening League last night following an 88-run victory against Hautlians at FB1.

Hannes Botha continued his fine form retiring on 52 for Beeches and with Sean Billson adding 36 and Peter German an undefeated 44 the champions posted 186 for two in 14 overs. Botha and Billson featured in an opening stand of 82 runs.

Jack Waters hit 29 runs in Hautlians’ reply of 98 for seven leaving Beeches victors and taking 15 points from the match. Sean Connoway took three wickets for 17 runs for the winners in four overs, one being a maiden.

St Helier RFC and Ashburton, who moved up two places, are now joint second two points behind Beeches after they both won.
