JERSEY defeated Guernsey by two wickets with ten balls to spare in the under-13 inter-insular at the College Field in St Helier on Sunday.

Joint coach Mark Palmer said it was a great result and fine team effort from the Jersey team.

Palmer, who is assisted by Stephen Blampied, said: ‘It was a great result and a team effort as all the boys contributed in different ways. Matches in the age group have been tight over the years and it was not different on Sunday.

‘Guernsey will have fancied to have won having scored 202 for four from 40 overs and we responded well with Dominic Blampied getting us off to a good start to top score with 67.’
