The scene in Trinity Road yesterday afternoon Picture: COLLETTE BISSON (00836160)
DRIVERS can expect four days of traffic misery after a seven-metre section of one of Jersey’s busiest commuter roads collapsed.
The giant hole appeared in the road between the Robin Hood junction and Safeway at around midday yesterday after a water main burst.
As a result of the crater, which is close to Trinity Gardens, police closed the road to traffic from both directions, causing long tailbacks.
Those delays are likely to last until Monday lunchtime at the earliest. Jersey Water said that they would be working through the weekend, but that the road could not be resurfaced until late on Monday.

#2 David Brown, Yes there might be 20 blokes there to do the work but each utility company needs its own personnal to repair its services. I would not be too impressed if a telecoms employer tried to repair a gas main.

Aamazing. The publicly owned utility company staffed by what a lot on here call lazy have the hole repaired ASAP. Then they have to wait for the privately owned road resurfacing company to have their weekend off before this main arterial road can be opened.
