ISLANDERS will soon be able to watch blockbuster hits in 3D, now that the Island’s only cinema has announced that it will be installing the technology in the near future.
A Cineworld spokesperson has confirmed that 3D will be brought to Jersey – but an installation date has not yet been confirmed.
The news will delight the 1,577 people who have so far joined a group on the social networking website Facebook, calling for the technology to be installed at Cineworld on the Waterfront.
A Cineworld spokesperson told the JEP: ‘We will be installing screens. However, we are waiting on an installation date’.

Until they sort out their problems, customer service, prices and police the cinemas, they can keep bloomin 3D.
I could run a better cinema in my lounge with a projector and screen.
Now there’s an idea……

With the availability of reasonably-priced home-cinema systems these days (at least if you buy online anyway) coupled against the high cost of going to the cinema, I’m actually surprised that anyone goes there at all any more. Further to this, it’s not exactly difficult to download movies from America whilst they are still showing here, I expect Cineworld must really be struggling to fill their seats.
Perhaps Cineworld would be wise to reconsider their pricing policy, particularly in regard to the infamously-expensive drinks and sweeties. I nearly fell over when I purchased a 500ml bottle of water in there once and discovered that it would have been cheaper to buy 500ml of fine champagne instead.

I don’t think any of you know what you’re talking about, downloading films from america isn’t a legitimate way of watching films. Cinemas always have better sound and screens than any home cinema, and for the case of someone who watches films infrequently, or doesn’t watch TV, means that they’d be spending thousands for a setup that still doesn’t rival the cinema AND costs a massive amount compared to buying tickets.
And you don’t need to buy concessions to watch a film, and cinemas anywhere make most of their money from the food, not the tickets.
If you don’t realise why Cineworlds still here, maybe see how it’s the ONLY cinema on the island, unless that very small cinema I forget the name of is still around. If you want to get rid of Cineworld then go ahead and just move island, we shouldn’t be avoiding advances in these things just because you enjoy whining about prices.

It is amazing that cinemas still exist in this day and age. They nearly died out in the nineteen-seventies.
Why go and pay to sit with people who can’t behave when deprived of their ciggies, or can’t behave anyway, can’t leave their phones alone, just to watch something that starts and finishes at times which may not particularly suit you, when you could watch it at home with pauses and rewinds if your attention wanders or you didn’t hear properly.
Add to that the bother of parking and the risk of feral youths assaulting you on the way back home.
No contest, and that’s assuming that the film is really worth watching anyway and wasn’t just made with the object of screwing money out of the brain dead!
