It’s that time again, and for the next three weeks we shall be treated to an ever changing story that’s called the Tour de France.

I had the interesting experience of cycling against the flow of traffic on the cycle track that goes between St Helier and St Aubin last Wednesday.

I read that nearly 900,000 bikes lie unused in sheds around Scotland according to Cycling Scotland, and I don’t doubt that the same situation exists here in Jersey.

The news that Volvo Cars Netherlands and Swedish company POC are to produce their own cycle helmets for children could be seen as good news for cycling, and earlier this year Volvo unveiled a car with an automatic braking system that detects pedestrians.

Today we visit Trinity, literally the high spot of our rides around Jersey.­
