EMPLOYEE engagement can play a key part in achieving economic growth, Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf told an audience of human resources professionals.

He said that an empowered workforce was more likely to be a high-performing one and that motivated workers can help to achieve the changes necessary to grow the economy.

The Senator made his comments to members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at a conference at the Pomme d’Or Hotel.

His fellow speaker, Nita Clarke, was the author of a report produced for the UK government entitled Engaging for Success.

Senator Ozouf said: ‘That report cites evidence that only those organisations that truly engage and inspire their employees produce world-class levels of innovation, productivity and performance.’

Profund stuff. In other revelations, the tide will come in and out and the sun will rise and set.

Ok, put your money where your mouth is and remove the overpaid, underworked, uninspiring, and in many cases bullying, level of management that you have in the States and lets see if this really works.

I know of many people who have been down trodden and forced to accede to the lacklustre, inneffective culture that these parasites thrive on. They suppress ambition and a genuine desire to help lest they are found out for what they really are; a cadre of non entities who by being employed for a certain period of time, find themselves promoted out of a misguided sense of goodwill or fear by Ministers of losing ‘years of knowledge’. Believe me you are better off without them.

You know they are there Philip so lets see you do something that will ultimately help us all.

Welcome to the world of management Senator Ozouf. What do you think we have been doing over past few decades?

Well said J-Cat and Peddler but I don’t expect much of substance form the Master of Spin.

Inspire employees what planet is the big O on?

Depressed, disheartened, disillusioned, fed up, overworked, underpaid, and not recognised about sums up the average lot of the worker now. Firms must be stupid if they think away days and teamwork posters make a difference.

Unfortunately the future doesn’t bode well with even more work likely to be dumped on already over stressed workers. At some stage sick benefit will outway social security contributions if things don’t change for the better. Not much hope of that is there?

I would say a cull of the higher echelons is long oversue. Likely to happen? I doubt it.

Text book comments, but why is this man acting as if he is an expert on everything?

To me, attending and speaking at these functions should be left to our Chief Minister. Hopefully this situation will be rectified in a month, and the new Treasury Minister will be told to focus on his own job.
