Four jobs are lost as two trust businesses merge

Thursday 27th October 2011, 2:59PM BST.

FOUR jobs have been lost as a result of a merger of two Jersey trust businesses.

Together IFM Trust and Sector Trust now have a combined workforce of 74 people in four countries on three continents.

The new business will operate under the IFM Group banner and will remain independent of any major financial institution.

The group said that as a result of an overlap in job responsibilities, ‘a regrettable but necessary decision’ was taken to shed four jobs, mainly in non-client-facing roles.

Three staff in the Sector Trust compliance section and a director of the firm’s investment services division lost their jobs.

This just adds to the scores of trust people currently looking for jobs. Sadly it’s also being reported on the grapevine that some firms are still getting in J-Cats when there is a pool of locals to choose from. Why? That’s what I’d like to know????

    Grrrrrr

They get J cats in cos there isnt anyone local who can do the job……am sooo sick of you locals moaning about J cats and Immigrants. Do you think Jersey folk dont wander off and take other peoples jobs in far off countries..what makes Jersey so special that they dont want to allow foreigners here.

I cannot believe that we have not got enough local people qualified or experienced enough in trust work to do these jobs, I mean, how long has the finance industry been on this island now, get my drift? The majority of local people have nothing against uk and foreign nationals coming here, with an unemployment rate of nearly 1500, I feel that the population and yes the immigration “issues” need now to be looked at more in depth..
