MOVES to strengthen business links between Jersey and Russia have taken a step forward with the formation of a group of experts charged with finding ways of securing more trade.
The inaugural meeting of the ‘Russia and CIS Community of Interest Group’ was held in the Island late last month and chaired by Jersey Finance’s business development representative for the region, Gary Hales.
Attendees included senior members of the local business community and experts on the region, as well as strategic partners from UK finance industry promoters, TheCityUK.
Further meetings of the group set up by Jersey Finance will be held on a regular basis, starting early in 2013.

Yup, good to jump into bed with a kleptocracy and its bent money (if you more than scratch the surface.

It wouldn’t be too difficult for Russian/CIS mobsters to gain a foothold in Jersey (or Britain, for that matter) under the guise of guest workers from the newer EEC countries, without extra help from finance bed partners.
Add some strategic marriages to make business connections and sudden increases in wealth look innocent and the movement could become unstoppable.
When this happens the bed partners won’t know what’s hit ‘em!
