AFTER a top-to-bottom restoration of the art-deco garage at First Tower, The Mansell Collection opened its doors to customers this morning.

At least the business side of it did, in the shape of a showroom selling second-hand vehicles ranging from a Mini up to a Ferrari California.

The motorsport museum holding Jersey-resident Nigel Mansell’s huge collection of trophies and memorabilia and five of the cars he drove during an illustrious career that saw him win the Formula One drivers championship in 1992 and the Indy Car Series the following year on the first floor of the building is due to open at the end of March.

Mr Mansell is chairman of The Mansell Collection and his son Leo is director of the ground floor operation. Leo said he was delighted that the showroom was now open for business.

A report on the new showroom is published in today’s JEP Motoring supplement.
