ABOUT 50 new jobs are likely to be created in the Island over the next few years as a result of a multi-million dollar investment by a venture capital firm in local cloud computing business Calligo.
More jobs are also expected to be created in other offshore jurisdictions as a result of the decision of Jersey based venture capital business Ti23 to back Calligo’s expansion plans.
Calligo is the Island’s only dedicated cloud computing services provider and was founded by its chief executive Julian Box in late 2011.

Without wishing to denigrate Calligo in any way – WOW 50 new jobs in the next few years, what about the other 1800 unemployed then, come on States remove head from a**s and do something !!!

Mogitt – what do you mean about States doing something? Bit confused, please expand on what you want these politicians to do – can they magic up jobs for the 1800 people. Why make such sweeping statements bout them doing something – come up with some ideas or solutions on you’re own as you is the expert ? If not, just another boring comment…..

Well said Stan! and @Mogit – its 50 jobs we didn’t have before!

You should admire what Calligo is trying to do on this island.

It may be just 50 jobs now,but it will open up an industry in itself.Cloud computing is the future & could be so beneficial for Jersey in the near future.
Let us hope that Jersey realises its potential,& dosent get its head stuck in the sand as per usual.

It would appear to me that readers are confusing and being taken in by good PR with actual fact. The article reads, “About 50 new jobs are likely to be created”.
I am therefore slightly surprised the JEP reported in this way as it’s merely conjecture and not fact.
Great advertisement for Calligo. If the company were floated, the share price would definitley have gone up – again on mere wishful thinking.

Stan Le Main – Mogit with one t – obviously those rose tinted glasses don’t enable you to see as clearly as you think!!!

I sure Foreshore provide Cloud services so that would mean Calligo aren’t the only provider in the island – a little misleading??
Correct. They’re are actually alteast 5 other locally based established IT Providers on Jersey who also provide ‘Cloud’ Based solutions/services.
Very appropriate if this ‘ere cloud is based in Cloud Cuckoo Island.
