Superfast broadband cabling leads to major award for JT

JT Group chief executive Graeme Millar collected the award
JT GROUP has won a major international award for its programme of installing a superfast fibre broadband cabling network that will connect to every Island home.
The telecommunications business was chosen as operator of the year by the Fibre to the Home Europe Council at a prestigious ceremony in London and lauded for its foresight in embarking on the ambitious installation programme.
However, at home in Jersey the project has been criticised for being well behind schedule with questioned also raised about its viability.
But those problems were left behind when JT Group chief executive Graeme Millar collected the award in front of an audience of global telecom companies and specialist technical firms at the Excel Arena in London’s Docklands last week.

Just goes to prove how worthless these awards are! Just handed out like sweets! No doubt our treasury Minister was there at the taxpayers expense, ridiculous!

the broadband only the rich can afford 60 pound a month what a joke

I’m on the same tariff I was before but am now on fibre – super low latency, and more consistent throughput (i.e. apparently no/lower contention ratio).
No joke.
You can pay more if you want, but I’m not. Got my 2mb still.

Well that just goes to show the award is a farce, just like JT’s overly ambitious installation programme
