Consumer Council hit back

THE Consumer Council have hit back at criticism over its planned anti-GST demonstration.

Chairman Deputy Alan Breckon says that they have received considerable support after calling for the Royal Square rally on 8 September. Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur has claimed that te rally comes too too late as the States had already passed its decision to introduce the tax next year and he questioned the role of the council and whether it should be headed by a political figure. But Deputy Breckon said: ‘The Council has been criticised by a small minority as well as being thanked by many, which should all add to a productive debate.
